2019 Mid-Ohio Valley Pen Turners Gathering
Another awesome event!! Jason Rose really puts a ton of work into this and each year they just get bigger and better. The prizes that are given away are incredible! If you’re new to pen turning, I totally recommend this event! I don’t think there’s another way to learn so much about pen making in such a short amount of time.
Here’s the list of demonstrations that took place:
- Celtic Knot–Don Peters
- Color casting –Braxton Frakenbery
- Kitless pen–Jim Hinze
- Label casting–Fred Wissen
- Segmenting–John Walsh
- Applying a CA finish–Brian Blohm
- Flip cup casting–Brian Blohm
- Colored pencil–Chad Schimmel
- Magical skew–Robert Marquis Sr.
- Thread wrapping blanks–Oscar Fluitt
I got an opportunity to talk about Pen Portfolios and the Pen Kit Inventory app.
I also got to do a one-on-one class with the segment masters from Cocoon Custom Blanks.
Here are a few pictures I took from the vendor area.
What is MOVPTG?
If you’ve never heard of this group, go to Facebook and check out the Mid-Ohio Valley Pen Turners Gathering group page. It’s a super helpful group of folks sharing about pen making.
Thank you so much for the kind words and the continued support!
You’re welcome. Thank you!
I’m looking forward to next year.
It was my first time and I had a great time. It was an honor to meet so many that have like passions of pen turning. Thanks to Jason Rose and Princess for a great gathering.
It was my first time attending this event. All I can say is I found my people. EVERYONE there was friendly and welcoming. Jason and his crew were fantastic to deal with. My only regret is I failed to have enough money to spend. This will not happen again, all the vendors had show discounts and are true experts in their fields. It’s already in my schedule for next year.
I have attended the last two MOVPTG and are looking forward to this years event. Jason Rose goes all out to make the show as enjoyable as possible. Great demos, especially good for beginner pen turners and blank casters. The vendors sell most anything a person needs to get started in turning and casting. You will never meet a better group of people.
